Half-day RUSA STARS workshop helps librarians make sense of ILL statistics

Registration is now open for “Interlibrary Loan Statistics: What We Gather, How We Use Them, and Who We Provide Them To”, a half-day preconference offered by the Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS) of RUSA.

This preconference, which is offered in conjunction with the 2010 ALA Annual Conference, will help attendees to sort through the myriad of ILL statistics available from a variety of sources and how to use these numbers to make decisions about staffing, collection development and other important workplace issues. The topics covered at this event are ideal for resource sharing practitioners including those dealing with  interlibrary loan, document delivery and remote circulation, as well as consortia members and librarians.  Participants will gain practical knowledge regarding the creation of reports, manipulation of canned reports supplied by vendors, and how to use this data to provide quality service.

The event will be held 8:30a.m.-12p.m. on Friday, June 25, at one of the ALA Conference hotels in Washington, D.C. Interested participants can register for this event only, or can register in conjunction with Annual Conference registration by adding it as a ticketed event. For institute-only registration using the online form (login required) available at www.ala.org/annual, select “Institute and Ticketed Events Only” as the registration type, and proceed to select this event from the list (event code RUS4).

Advance registration for the meeting and this event is open through May 14, 2010. Advance registration prices start at $140 for RUSA members. On-site registration starts at $155 for RUSA members, and will be available until Sunday, June 20. All interested participants are strongly encouraged to register by June 20, as only a handful of seats will be available at the door on the day of the event. Register now at www.ala.org/annual.
