Dear RUSA Members:
With a brand new year coming up, I want to give special thanks to all the RUSA member volunteers who have given so much of their time and energy to carry out all their accomplishments this last year, which enriched our association. One of the biggest thrills of my career, and I hope of yours, has been the creation of the Carnegie Medals of Excellence for Fiction and Nonfiction awards. The inaugural award event in Anaheim last June was enormously successful and just full of joy for all book lovers. Please come to the RUSA/CODES Midwinter Book and Media Midwinter Reception, if you will be in Seattle. The CODES 2013 Notable Books List will be announced at the reception which, along with the Booklist Editors’ Choice titles, helps form the long list that the Carnegie Medals committee reviews.
This event is not to be missed; all of our book and media awards will be announced there. Add the reception to your Midwinter schedule. For a complete list of our many book and media awards, please visit the RUSA website here. You can also track the announcements of the winners on the evening of Sunday, Jan. 27 on our Facebook page or by searching on Twitter for the hashtag #literarytastes. I hope to see you at the reception!
